How do I charge the batteries in my motorhome?
The body battery can be charged using three different methods
- Charging while driving
While driving, the body battery is supplied with charge via the chassis generator. This can vary greatly depending on the configuration, additional installations and consumers used. In most cases, this can only be described as maintaining the charge of the body battery. - Charging via shore power
As soon as your vehicle is connected to the 230V socket, the body battery is charged by the electric block, which has an integrated charging module with a charging current of 18A (varies depending on the installation situation). This can be used to achieve a full charge - Charging via solar
When using solar modules in conjunction with charge controllers, it is possible to feed this charging voltage via the electric block and supply it to the body battery. This type of charge is highly dependent on the weather and the location (e.g. under trees), so here too we can only speak of an additional, supporting charge and not the main charge. Nevertheless, it helps to maintain the state of charge of the body batteries.
