If you wish to have additional seats retrofitted to your motorhome, you must consider the following points, which your contract or service partner will be happy to check in advance:
Is it technically possible to retrofit one or more seats?
The feasibility of this must be clarified with the manufacturer. If the necessary parts are available and can be installed subsequently, it must also be checked whether the vehicle may need to be loaded. Depending on the extent of the vehicle's equipment, an increase of load capacity may be necessary, as the number of seats increases the standard weight relevant for registration. This must not exceed the permissible total weight of the vehicle!
If these points have been clarified, the vehicle must be presented to a recognised technical testing organisation after the retrofit has been completed. The following documents are essential for this:
- Clearance certificate from the manufacturer
- Test report
- Work instructions for retrofitting
This allows the respective test engineer to ensure that all work has been carried out in accordance with the specifications and to check this on the vehicle.
